Just write - Post Surgery & Dentist check-up.

This is my little Jo Jo after she had some dental work done last year.  This was seriously awful as a mom to have to witness.  She had to get 4 of her teeth capped cause she had pretty big cavities in them. I honestly had thought that she would handle the surgery just about the same as Sienna had 6 months prior.  I was wrong.  The morning of her surgery I was super nervous.  At the time, I was 6 or 7 months pregnant with Stella and I'm sure super emotional at the time.  I remember crying as they took her back to do her work.  I think this kind of stuff is a given as a mom.  You hate to see your kids have to experience stuff that they shouldn't have too.  I was mad at myself for not brushing their teeth better.  For all those times, I gave in and let Sienna have apple juice at night.  It had all caught up with me.

Cambree didn't handle coming out of surgery well at all.  She was in serious pain.  She woke up and I thought at first she would settle down once she saw Michael and I.  She did not.  She kept grinding her teeth horribly; which signaled the nurse that she was still in pain.  So they injected her with more medicine in her IV.  They did this a couple times until she settled down.  I think Michael was a little surprised.  It broke our hearts to see her in pain.  We ended up having to stay a while longer to assure she would be okay before we were able to take Jo home.  But that was all that she wanted to do - she begged us to just take her home.  I will never forget when Cambree told me on the way home that she wished she had never done that!  Made me so sad!  It made me sad how swollen and puffy she was too.

Yesterday the girls had their annual 6 month check up.  I'm always a little nervous get the news.  I sent Michael this time to take them.  I didn't want to tackle the dentist alone with all three kids.  I knew Sienna wouldn't like it and she didn't.  She totally fought the doctor.  But luckily, he was able to get a good look at her teeth.  I have made a better effort to brush and floss both of the girls teeth better.  I just had hoped that it payed off with no cavities.

The girls came home with new toothpaste and toothbrushes.  And of coarse, a treasure from the treasure chest.  There favorite part.  So I am so proud to say they both have NO CAVITIES this time.  Thank goodness!  Cause I never want to ever have to experience what Jo had to go through ever EVER again.

I can imagine how hard that must have been! I hate the dentist, hate it. Im prone to cavities for whatever reason (i do brush and floss!!) so i hope my kids dont inherit that trait!

Awh.. Even I was disheartened at the sight of little Jo, knowing she’d be going through a surgery. This happening would have surely ticked something. Even though it’s hard, try resisting them when they’ve asked too many sweets. Better yet, be keener on their dental habits. ;) Do you have a much younger child? -->Jamar Schaffer
